‘Plastic Wind’ is an installation featuring a spray-painted foot-pump, accompanied by an edited sound piece, played out loud through speakers, which was produced solely through ‘playing’ the found object like a musical instrument.

Those Who Ruin Kings, 2021, Appropriated and original video and sound, 00:17:03.

Those Who Ruin Kings is centred around a spoken account of a childhood experience in which the artist inadvertently found themselves at a radical religious conversion event.

This narrative is illustrated through a variety of elements including original footage depicting crude ceramic figurines of Adam and Eve and a series of microscopic ruby photography appropriated from a 1988 lecture by Gemological Institute of America.

This ‘religious iconography’ guides the viewer through the memory and confronts the Proverbs (31:10) Bible verse described in the narration: “Girls are worth more than rubies” or rather “Virtuous girls are worth more than rare and precious rubies; other girls are worthless”.
